Eat. Play. Lounge. Wander about a thriving garden too… These are the activities my heart was set upon when deciding on where to drive, which restaurant to dine at, and how an adventuresome Saturday in the City would unfold for me and three friends…

Well, truth be told, our destination was most certainly not in the city. “The Farm” is a solitary oasis of great food in a metropolis of homogenized hotel-only restaurants distinctly lacking authenticity. It is located a ways out into the desert (but still within thirty minute’s drive from central Dubai) where guests are invited to stroll down manicured lawns, eyes invited to rest upon art installations discreetly placed among shrubbery, and marvel at how good design in landscaping can calm the soul…all before deciding upon what to eat!

Lined with tropical trees, date palms swaying above, neat timber decks and flowing streams beneath them, it was difficult to concentrate on choosing from the menu, when all of our other senses were summonsed to attention. At each turn about the Zen Gardens, four friends praised the genius of modern design and marveled at the various shades of green all about. That done, senses satisfied, our bellied rumbled: the menu coaxed us back in to The Farm. It was feeding time!

About Alice

I run, I jump, I sing, I dance. Whether climbing trees, walls or stairs I do it at a clip. When out, my date is always Trusty Nikon (who never lets me down in the attire stakes; so smart in his black, with a pop of red!). Where does it lead, this love affair of mine? Well, its lead me to Dubai, via the matrimonial aisle, thanks to a gorgeous husband who whisked me from Coogee beach, Sydney into the Arabian Peninsula - to my new home, Dubai. I am a freelance writer and photographer and my wish is to snap away, to scribe and to share it all with you. Enjoy.
