26-03-19 Kingsley: Mummy Reads

Tuesday 26th March 2019

The face of joy beams at me when Kingsley realizes I’m the class parent helping with reading today. ‘That’s mummy. That’s my mummy…’ he tells any and all his class bares when I join Miss Panousis’ line to march up the stairs into the purple classroom. Kingsley glows with pride!

My first school mum activity. I loved it! 5 stations, 5 groups of 3 or 4 kids, 5 minutes at each station, each station is a different reading activity. On purpose I calculate for me to take Kingsley’s group last. That way we both hold on to a delicious anticipation.

In fact it was better than anticipated: the group Kingsley was in had 3 kids only which meant Kingsley rushed toward my station, pulled a chair next to me and asked if I would play with him. The ither two boys playing together. Secretly so pleased! Openly proud to hear Kingsley actually read!
