Kingsley: Communication

Wednesday 24th July 2014

What is the matter with me? All day, every day, I daydream of this little fella. I look forward to the best part of our reunion: just laying about, lazing on the bed, cuddling and chattering. I make silly sounds and Kingsley follows suit.

My baby found his voice a long time ago and uses it well now. King communicates rarely these days with crying. He is discovering that a voice box is an organ within his control, and through making sounds, gestures and facial expressions, the boy gets my attention.

At this age, seven and a half months, King laughs and squeals. He even responds to his nickname “NiNii” and according to the books, babies this age can distinguish emotions by tone of voice. When I am lucky I experience King repeating the sounds he hears me make such as “ba-ba-ba.” Dear God what will I be like the day I hear my infant babble “Mama”?!

At precisely seven and a half months of age, my precious.
