05-09-16: Hair Model for the Week

Monday 5th September 2016

For the past two days Erroll has been taking Kingsley full time in order for me to be free for some serious pampering and rejuvenation. He just so happened to be in Dubai the days that I received an invitation to be a part of something extraordinary and fun and very expensive/risky were I to pay for it myself – a completely new hair style.  For even though I truly love my big curly hair and in fact feel as though it is a core part of my identity, I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t a little bored of it. Or just uneasy that at age 44 I had not attempted to make a change when my inner voice was constantly yelling at me ‘chop it off.’

And as this feeling again rose – a desire for change of my ‘look’ – an opportunity came my way to be part of something exciting and big in Dubai: an Italian hair show. So for the entire of Sunday and Monday of this week, I have been among Italy’s finest hair stylists, colourists and technicians as they worked magic on a few of us up on a stage in front of a live audience of Dubai’s hair cutters. We girls over the course of these initial two days (final hair work and new look ‘reveal’ occurs this Thursday afternoon) walked around in high heels wandering around the Nassima Royal Hotel eating Arabic dates and nuts, made friends, got fed (like any hard working model should!), shared stories, met each other’s kids and revelled in the glamour of the occasion). We all developed crushes on the insanely hip and talents Italians who oozed style and finesse. Then we all exchanged details and learned to kiss the Italians three times cheek to cheek.

Here is the before and after from the very hard working model for the week…
