Precisely 4.5 years ago my 17-year old self’s best friend Elvira came to Dubai to pay me a visit. Kingsley was not yet one. We met at the Dubai Mall for a traditional Arabic feast, of course Wafi Gourmet was the venue. Elvira’s youngest – Jessica, then aged 10 – accompanied her mum the almost 2 hours commute from their base in Abu Dhabi. And both ladies finally met for the first time 9.5 month old Kingsley. And we all got along famously.
Fast forward to now in mumma Dora’s house where Elvira and I spent many a weekend during our final years of high school, the kids reunite. Jessica age 15 with Kingsley age 5, old buddies from our previous expat days.
