Ths little face and stout body dressed in Oma’s stripey top was the first thing I saw / heard this morning and the last thing I cuddled this evening. He wakes me at 7 and he falls to sleep at 7. He whispers cute preschool talk for as long I am still laying in bed early hours and reads with me till lights out.
Currently his favourite bedtime story is ‘O drömos jiā to spīti’ (‘The road back home’, by Oliver Jeffers) and he pauses at each page. He especially likes the pictures of the little boy getting dressed to fly in his airplane. One reading of the book and he is ready to be rubbed to sleep. One prayer, some back scratches, finishing off with back rubs and the snoring begins.
