Kingsley: Thanksgiving

Friday 28th November 2014

Kingsley’s first Thanksgiving and he spends it with our Dubai crew at a fun, low-brow, all you can eat Brunch in a three star hotel in the seedier side of town. Here, the drinks are free-flowing; as many as your heart desires. Tequila shots, beers, vodkas and orange, you name it. I of course hung out at the seafood station while the lads sunk some Buds.

The Thanksgiving holiday commemorates a harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrim Fathers in 1621. This historic American Christian tradition began when, after the harvest crops were gathered in November 1623, Governor William Bradford of the 1620 Pilgrim Colony, “Plymouth Plantation” in Plymouth, Massachusetts proclaimed:

“All ye Pilgrims with your wives and little ones, do gather at the Meeting House, on the hill… there to listen to the pastor, and render Thanksgiving to the Almighty God for all His blessings.”
