Kingsley: 11-1-4 Buggy

At around 3:30PM today the internet went down. The lights would not turn on, the fridge light was off, and the air conditioning stopped working. Kingsley and I were left quite literally in the dark. In fact the entire highrise where we reside suffered a blackout. Hmm, what to do?

With Erroll on a layover in South Korea, and no Facebook to entertain myself with, nor blog to post onto, no air-con nor lights to read a book by (it gets dark early that winter is arrived) I made the decision to take Kingsley out of the house for the very first time in his buggy.

Now according to the books, we can take our newborn out of the house as soon as we feel ready. And today I was ready!

Before we ventured outside, Kingsley I dressed in a way that made it easy for me to keep him at the right temperature. That is, dress him in as many layers as I dress, then add one more.

The boy was in a onesie, then encased in a white zip front swaddle pod, then a fleecy throw on top and finally his favourite cotton star-themed blanket covering the whole ensemble. A beanie topped it all off. This may sound a lot, however it is winter now, and surprisingly windy and raining so these layers are definitely needed when out and about. Finally, Kingsley of course should have the company of one of his mates, so his teddy came out for the ride too…

I timed our travels for when the boy was well fed and content. He slept the entire time we were out: four blessed hours! My little adventurer in the making.
