19-10-16 Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Family Day

Wednesday 19th October 2016

Summer is over! Being burnt by lashing hot winds or searing sun for merely walking outside is over for another year!!

We head to the beach, the pool – any body of water really – for sand play and splashing is our aim now that Autumn has brought its milder weather and cooler winds to parched Dubai. The entire Emirate seems to be celebrating a new era of outdoorsy living. Still warm (ok, even hot) in direct midday sun but nowhere near the sonic missile heat of our roasting June, July and August just past.

So as a family we head down to Le Meridien Mina Seyahi for a day of play. With its adjacent hotel The Westin, this huge property hugging the Arabian Gulf coastline and overlooking The Palm is arguably the best family-oriented beach hotel in Dubai. In fact, this place is Dubai’s original coastal resort with endless green space, shady spots, glorious gardens and a kids club where us adults were happy to spend entire hours while Kingsley played. For Erroll and I the brand new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Fish Beach Taverna was opening up for the day’s trade (and cheeky cocktail)…

Never mind that I lost a dangly gold earring in one of the five pools or that Kingsley chucked other punters’ flip flops, goggles, sunglasses and a (thankfully empty plastic) glass in the water, or that as soon as Erroll dived into the Arabian Gulf a lifeguard promptly alerted him that jellyfish are about (mind, I had been swimming on and off for an hour without such alert before the boys joined me from their session of LEGO play under the trees).

Never mind any of that because our family’s happiness factor got cranked right up to 100 today; the sensational Le Meridien delivering yet again a virtual toy box filled with treats for young and old…
