Organic and fresh produce is definitely my thing. I’ve only discovered this about myself while living in the Middle East (read: among high rises, searing heat, scorching desert and perpetual air-conditioning). Another thing I have come to realise about what I seek out is…green. Yes: the colour green; chlorophyll, leaves, stalks, springy bushes and verdant lawns. Rare in Dubai, to be sure, but it can be chanced upon, if one decides to drive some way out from central city Dubai to an enclave known as the Al Barari…
And deep within Al Barari, in fact a drive of 1 km, through thick greenery of lush tropical trees – there, nestled in immaculate landscaping, – is The Farm. Rumour had it that there existed in Dubai a modern restaurant-cafe hidden within a Zen Garden deep in the desert, but I did not expected such vast greenery to thrive in Dubai.
The Farm was our destination for an organic-fare dining experience among the green. It seems also to be the happy terminus for a miriad of birds, so much chirping accompanied our meal. Water trickling soothed away the reality of searing Dubai heat, and with so much lush vegetation The Farm seemed to provide fresher breathing air for our exhausted lungs puffing away in this metropolis.
