This is it! 30 weeks gestation is now at an end! This final day in my 30s I chose to spend with friends, Camilla and Rhiannon, trying on dresses, getting measured, playing with cats and children, and celebrating it all in an outrageous wrist-to-knees floral ensemble…and why not?!
Today marks the tail end of my seventh month in gestation-mode. Physically, I am brimful of energy (mornings) then fall into a heap (evenings) with pain that radiates from varying sides of my back and into my ribcage; aches that are subdued only with the hot water of a bath. All along the sides of my protuberance is a creaking, stretching soreness which becomes bearable when buoyed in water. Daily, friends find me poolside and it is when slipping along the water that relief finally comes.
Since I grow so large, only a couple of occupations bring me comfort these days: swimming and the wearing of shocking maternity apparel. It seems only the hugely pregnant can get away with brightly patterned botanically-themed ensembles. Me for one. Why the evil not?! Say sayonara to the 30’s Alice!!
