Dear World, thank you for such a welcome. My guardian angels had whispered to me before being born that life outside of my warm water bath would be a shock but nothing to be frightened of. They told me that my mum would resume nourishing me round the clock like she did while I was in utero, and that I would be ecstatic to finally meet the man behind the voice that sung to me each night “Di di di”: my dad.
Angels, you are the best friends a baby could wish for. You were right! Mum instantly gave up her milkshake makers for me – two of them, all for me! – and dad’s strong arms felt just right bundling me up and carting me from crib to mum’s bed, then back again.
Being born was the best thing I have done!
