Friday 30th January
Harrison Tooby turns one and his birthday party is a hit with the Hartleys. Never mind the shaky start to proceedings: literally upon arrival, having to deal with a huge vomit that covered not only Erroll’s new outfit, but the entire back seat of the cab. We kept calm and carried on, with showers, new outfits, splashing in the pool, BBQ salmon, eating far too much of Sunny’s Pop caramel popcorn, cake, cookies and other teeth-rotting treats.
All on all a great arvo among friends, whom we love, feel responsible for, and who have become like family to us: living as we go throughout life here in Dubai, interdependently…
Dalai Lama once said:
Interdependence is a fundamental law of nature. Even tiny insects survive by cooperating with each other. Our own survival is so dependent on the help of others that a need for love lies at the very core of our existence. This is why we need to cultivate a genuine sense of responsibility and a sincere concern for the welfare of others.
