France Holiday ’16: Autumn Paris

September 2016

Our holiday in France was divided into two, with the first half spent in the delightful green and historic village of Sceaux with all of its chateaux, water fountains, gardeners markets and historic walks. Here, we lived in room 208 of Hotel Colbert [named after Jean-Baptiste Colbert (1619 – 1683) the French Minister of Finances under the rule of King Louis XIV] and surrounded by 18o hectare Parc de Sceaux.

The second half of our holiday was spent in a mini three storey mansion complete with rambling gardens and two fluffy cats in the neighboring village of Bourg-la-Reign. Here we were within a short walking distance from our friends Kym, Jerome and toddler Natan, as well as two excellently supplied and safe children’s playgrounds, supermarkets and brasseries. This was the first time I’ve ever used Airbnb for accommodation and it will not be the last. For Kingsley received the very best of Paris during the day (monuments, rationally designed parks, museums) and by evening (a huge garden to discover front, back and sides of the mansion)…
