Kingsley: Brunching

Friday 6th March 2015

On Fridays between the hours of noon and five, what seems like the entire of Dubai goes brunching. And we as long term ex-pats are still subject to the lure of the grand buffet. Today, on the eve of turning fifteen months, Kingsley experienced the delights of a five-star brunch-a-thon. Friends invited us to The Palace in the Downtown area of Dubai. This would have to rate as one of the classier brunches, and by Jove I made sure we ate as much crustacean that is legally allowable.

Prawns, lobster, salmon, scallop, calamari and oysters; you name it, I devoured it. As for Erroll, I need not concern myself: he found his way to the sushi counter and never left. But little Kingsley, well he has another constitution. At times I felt as though I was force feeding him – he is not the greediest eater – but took heart that he enjoyed morsels of white fish, pumpkin and mash potato.

The three of us decided to walk home…in order to walk off the excesses of the day, a day filled with great food enjoyed among great friends.
