04-08-16 Brit-Greek-Lankie Lunch

Thursday 4th August 2016

Today’s collective mood was definitely lighter what with Erroll still safely in Seoul and after yesterday’s horrific jetliner crash. So a day celebrating friendships was on the cards. Our Tzannetis-Hartley household hosted bestie preggo Rio and her Sri Lankan-British family who are here on holidays, for a big fat Greek Lunch. On the menu was the quintessential rice and chicken dish, oregano and lemon infused potatoes and roast carrots. To start the tastebud dance, we couldn’t go past the classic Greek tavérna staples of feta cheese, olives, mild kefalotiri and crackers. However everyone’s eyes was on mum’s spectacular yoghurt and lemon zest pound cake. It was delicious, moorish, and one slice was not enough for any of us.

Kingsley did not eat such was his excitement at company, his favourite part of the day was showing Louise to our bedroom, inviting her to lay under the Doona and play ‘hiding’. His least favourite part of the day was near the end when we decided to take a group shot and I would not allow him to ‘go into’ the iPad. As much as I pulled him back from the screen, he insisted on his face becoming one with the devise, something I won’t allow these days considering he has already cracked it’s screen. Tantrum? Pffft. Easy remedy: some more of mum’s lemony yoghurt cake…
