24-08-18 Παλαιά Φοκαία Obsessed

Friday 24th August 2018

Its Friday all day in the sun in Ανάβυσσος for us at Nossa Beach Resort just a 20 minute bus ride away. Our game du jour is catching a tennis ball over the beach volleyball net. Kingsley’s getting good! The ball is small and his hands often miss but more and more often he catches the ball on the full.

His wish is to visit Παλαιά Φοκαία primarily for its fantastic children’s playground. So we walk there along the shoreline of course stopping at Plaza Beach Resort for our outdoor shower. Our shower is fresh. And beachgoers hear all about it thanks to the protests of a certain nugget. But he’s pleased that I remembered a towel. No more yelling: he dries off in the searing arvo heat. Then we walk on.

Well here at the playground I lost all control of the child. He became a tarantula, climbing with confidence the vertical structures and encouraging other kiddies to follow suit. I couldn’t coax the tarantula away from the web; other kiddies afterall started playing with Kingsley, following his tricks and wanting his attention. In the meantime he gave me none…and we missed the last bus back to Saronītha.

Kingsley of course was thrilled at this – staying up late way past 9:30, with an ice cream in his hand among the other ravers at the playground. Best day of his life, he declared as we finally sunk into Kir. Panayiöti’s cab on our way home.
