Kingsley: 28-1-14 Sleepy

At 7 weeks of age, newborns must sleep. A lot. For through sleep they thrive and their energy replenishes (and I, the weary mother, can heal from the excruciating pain of breastfeeding…just for an hour or two).

Yet babies do not have regular sleep cycles until about six months of  age. While newborns sleep about 16 hours per day, they may only sleep one or two hours at a time. And this is exactly how Kingsley rests: short, frequent naps. I of course am desperate for him to go down for four hours at a time (ooh the fun things I would do in those hours!!)

But for now, I take what I am given: an hour here; an hour there. And right now its this angelic view of my baby deep in slumber. Good night sleepyhead x
