A beachside wedding has so much to offer: fun in the sun for both you and your guests and a magical backdrop. Triple that and add a spoonful of glam when the venue is Dubai’s Palm, and the vista is the metropolis’ futuristic skyline, with the warm Arabian Gulf invitingly lapping at your sandaled heels…
Guests ditched their shoes as the beautiful couple exchanged “I do’s.” The two Dubai residents, Matt and Trina, shared their vows on a favorite stretch of sand surrounded loved ones who had flown in from all four corners of the globe: Malta, South Africa, Japan, Philippines.
The couple’s March 2013 nuptials capped a celebratory weekend in Dubai with family flying in to Dubai for pre-wedding parties and brunches, to the most extraordinary weather: warm, sunny, breezy.
So they seized the chance to introduce their friends and family to a creamy strand of private beach in front of the Rixos Hotel. Here, formality was shunned, and good tidings were encouraged with singing and dancing, story-telling and finally the moment all had gathered for: when Trina said “I take thee Matthew Borg to be my husband.”
A big, traditional event never appealed to Trina and Matt. Both yearned for an intimate party in a spot where friends and family could vacation at the same time. So once they settled on the Rixos Hotel, a chic traditional modern Turkish hotel, executing their wedding was literally a day at the beach.
As the sun fell away, a glorious starry night veiled the wedding party in a warmth that saw guests dance madly away to the tunes of celebrated DJ Living Waters. Both Trina and Matt kept their gorgeous just-married glow and were the last to leave the dance-floor! What a night. What a love story.
