Black Gold

Here is a terrific dinner-party conversation starter:

10.05 Million – that’s the number of oil barrels produced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia per day the other month. Yep – November 2011 saw the highest output of oil since 1980.

And while we are at numbers, the state-owned national oil company Saudi Aramco is estimated to be worth $8 trillion USD, manages over 100 oil and gas fields in Saudi Arabia and today is the world’s largest and most valuable company.

As for me: well, I do not drive nor operate heavy machinery, and in the main take the electrically-run Dubai Metro for transportation, so all this oil is getting gobbled up someplace else. Possibly in Dubai where cars go for a song and petrol is the cheapest I have seen anywhere in the world. Taxi!

About Alice

I run, I jump, I sing, I dance. Whether climbing trees, walls or stairs I do it at a clip. When out, my date is always Trusty Nikon (who never lets me down in the attire stakes; so smart in his black, with a pop of red!). Where does it lead, this love affair of mine? Well, its lead me to Dubai, via the matrimonial aisle, thanks to a gorgeous husband who whisked me from Coogee beach, Sydney into the Arabian Peninsula - to my new home, Dubai. I am a freelance writer and photographer and my wish is to snap away, to scribe and to share it all with you. Enjoy.
