Bridesmaids

Today my past decided to pay my present a visit. Inspiration for the day’s musings came along with it: How to best capture the good graces of a bride’s attendants. Natural light, spontaneous poses, cracking smiles and crinkles around their eyes. Every inch of them shouts “we love being here for our bride!!”…

It doesn’t hurt the image that all four bridesmaids are radiant and uniquely beautiful, with great hair to boot.

But the condition of bridal party candidacy is not mere photogenic merit; its that Bridesmaids give a bride the unquestioning support she desperately needs when she, on the cusp of walking down the aisle, lets go of her dad’s hand, turns on her heel, takes herself to the bathroom, and quite unannounced, locks herself in. And remains in there. For a long time. No matter how much her dad howls for her to “get out, darling; the guests are waiting for you!! Your husband-to-be is pacing the floor!!!…”

Its these girls who coax her out with their soothing words and a gentle tone, take her hand and return it to its rightful owner – her dad – till they all reposition themselves to walk down that aisle again…

And the rest, as they say, is matrimonial history. Bridesmaids to the rescue.

About Alice

I run, I jump, I sing, I dance. Whether climbing trees, walls or stairs I do it at a clip. When out, my date is always Trusty Nikon (who never lets me down in the attire stakes; so smart in his black, with a pop of red!). Where does it lead, this love affair of mine? Well, its lead me to Dubai, via the matrimonial aisle, thanks to a gorgeous husband who whisked me from Coogee beach, Sydney into the Arabian Peninsula - to my new home, Dubai. I am a freelance writer and photographer and my wish is to snap away, to scribe and to share it all with you. Enjoy.
