Kingsley: Dad wears Baby

Dear Kingsley,

You may not like to read this…but you are a high needs baby. Yep, no getting around that one. You are all about being carried, never to be put down; want to be high up, to see the action and make it known (loudly) that its time to be moved about.

Luckily for you (well, for all of us, really), your father is a certified babywearer. And you little champ, have got used to Erroll’s handling, too. You see, fathers have a different rhythm to a mumma’s walk, a difference that you, as a baby, seem to appreciate. Erroll snuggles you in the crook of his neck and his chin drapes over your sweet head. When he does, you go all quiet. Its because it is so comforting, so reassuring for you. For babies hear not only through their ears but also through the vibration of their skull bones.

You naturally position your head against his voice box, then Erroll hums Lord of the Rings in a low pitch the vibrations of which often lull you right to sleep. As you guys are walking about!

Baby wearing for a father is extremely rare here in Dubai. But not for our baby!

Sometimes Erroll just breaths heavily onto your head or face and this calms you.

Erroll felt a real high the first time he wore you to go out and about, you snuggled securely against his chest during that walk. He would tell me, later that night, the he felt a sense of completeness. A brand new feeling discovered! Sometimes he wears you for hour at a time.

Constant baby-wearing isn’t necessary, we both agree but some (LOADS of) daily contact is definitely best. There are three votes to the affirmative in this household alone!
