Kingsley: 14-12-13 Ravenous

What is this, Kingsley? Will you ever be satisfied with the milk I give you? Are two breasts just not enough for a 6 day old appetite?? Good God, this child will not let up! Our son, today 6 days young, has the hunger of a barracuda…and the latch of a piranha. This is what my sore nipples have to contend with…

Not even a week old and constantly rooting around for the breast…and calm when he finds it

As a new mum I constantly wonder (and worry) whether Kingsley is getting enough milk from me, especially since he wants to feed all the time. As in all the time! Rarely does the boy cry after being fed however, so I am hoping this is a sign of satisfaction. And his burps are epic.

Now I read in the literature that if my baby is feeding every two to three hours, or at least eight to twelve times a day, he’s probably getting everything he needs. And with that reassurance (as well as the evidence of endless wet nappies), at this early stage of this wee precious life, I hazard a guess that this ravenous tiny person is getting the nourishment he requires to grow up healthy and stout. Burp.
