37 Weeks

Big news! Today the Seahorse reached its ‘full term’. Never mind that human pregnancy lasts 40 weeks, our little cocooned critters become capable of survival outside of the womb now – at 37 weeks. And today we reached this important milestone. No longer is Seahorse considered a premmie baby should its appearance come now.

It doesn’t mean that Seahorse has finished growing as yet. For the next 3 weeks – till 40 weeks – our bebe shall stack on 300 grams so that fat continues to accumulate. That’s about one more kilo to add to its already 3kg weight!! My job? To eat heartily and well.

As fat is added to the Seahorse’s frame, our bebe practices breathing; well, in actual fact, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, sucking its thumb. blinking and doing leg side kicks. This is why I am having to deal with boots to my ribs, left and right; right and left. Agony. But all worth it.
