Ch. 22: The Journey

Dear diary,

This morning – the usual ritual: wake, loo, wash face, apply contact lenses, pour me a Berocca, then settle in front of the computer for the news. That is, Facebook and email. Today I received a message from the Universe, True! Here is what the message read:

Usually, the best way to find the yellow brick road of your life, Alice, is to start out on the dusty, dirt one. And then let yourself become so preoccupied in making the best of it, having fun, and challenging yourself that you actually stop paying attention to the path. Until, one day, not so long from now, with a new best friend, wearing cool clothes, feeling awesome, a teeny tiny bit taller, fresh from a WOW vacation, looking for the path you just left, you’ll notice that it’s 24 carats… baby. And you’ll wonder for a long, long time, sipping on some exotic fruit drink, when the transformation actually took place…

23 weeks along

23 weeks ago Erroll and I embarked on our third attempt at assisted fertility not knowing with any certainty how this particular journey would end but hoping all along the way that the road would lead to this: the Hartley baby being incubated in my belly.

Needless to say, attempt number three worked. And now, at 23 weeks we have past the halfway point of the magical adventure, en route to a healthy baby born early December. Universe, love you back. Big time x
