One of my dearest friends here in Dubai has turned her hand to establishing an online business specifically designed for UAE based ex-pat brides-to-be giving them access to the dazzling world of all things wedding. I was asked to capture the launch event of ‘Bride Club ME’, held at the super stylish gardens of the Park Hyatt Dubai…
We got to meet wedding vendors, mingle with small business owners, chat with brides-to-be, and be inspired by beauty…
Models took to the terraced gardens wearing couture gowns, hair and make-up trends being the talking point for the thoroughly modern bride…
Cookies were fashioned into tiny wedding gowns; cupcakes dressed in tiaras; cakes tiered, diamontes over each level…
The founder of ‘Bride Club ME’ – my friend first and foremost! – took to the dias and generously gave praise to those who have supported her venture into online publishing as well as looking and sounding seriously polished up there on the microphone…
The launch event hands down was a success and behind this successful venture a team drove it to its final destination. During the last quarter hour of the evening, I spotted three very relaxed ladies seated on the stage, their legs dangling like school girls’: Simone the Master of Ceremonies, Rhiannon Downie the Business Owner and Clare the Event Planner. What a team.
Guests were treated to cocktails, canapes, massages; could lounge on beanbags under the warm Dubai sky listening to the tunes of a rocking DJ. It all very much fostered romance…
We learned that henna painted on the hands and arms of today’s Arabic and Asian brides is a tradition that goes back to Ancient Egyptian times…
By the end of the evening, guests were beaming from loved-up joy at being surrounded by such wedding-inspiration and good taste that they did not want to leave…
Each guest at their moment of departure wished ‘Bride Club ME’ all their very best by posting on the Wishing Tree a personal note…
And by midnight Rhiannon called it a night, each of us – her friends and team – thrilled to play a small part in the inspirational story behind the beginning of what will be big: ‘Bride Club ME.’
