Chandelier

Check out this killer combo: 5* Luxury Hotel in the busy Financial heart of Dubai + WOW Food + No Alcohol Policy. You eyes read correctly – a dry hotel, is what we call these fine establishments here in the UAE: dry. But there was not a dry cheek in the house once eyes rested upon this extraordinary Chandelier hanging precariously in the Millennium Plaza Hotel’s foyer. This magnificent showstopper weighs half a tonne, is all-crystal (not glass) and was shipped lovingly from Italy for the grand opening of this fine place but 4 weeks ago.

So how to capture it? 10PM with a full belly and a tired husband, I was on a mission to give it my best go. Various options, buttons and knobs were turned. Aperture Priority? Shutter Priority? Dial up ISO? You name it, I tried it. Here are three outcomes, and their accompanying Nikon settings.

About Alice

I run, I jump, I sing, I dance. Whether climbing trees, walls or stairs I do it at a clip. When out, my date is always Trusty Nikon (who never lets me down in the attire stakes; so smart in his black, with a pop of red!). Where does it lead, this love affair of mine? Well, its lead me to Dubai, via the matrimonial aisle, thanks to a gorgeous husband who whisked me from Coogee beach, Sydney into the Arabian Peninsula - to my new home, Dubai. I am a freelance writer and photographer and my wish is to snap away, to scribe and to share it all with you. Enjoy.
