Kingsley: Body Strength

Saturday 28th June 2014

I did not think playing on a mat or blanket could ever amount to anything other than cries of boredom from our hyper baby. But lately, tummy time has become so interesting…for both me and Kingsley. You see our boy is learning to push-up and glows from pride when he perfects one.

We’ve taken to laying his great-grandma Bonnie’s quilt – the one she made for Erroll some 35 years ago – over our rug then pouring out the contents of King’s toy basket over it. Plush animals scatter some distance from the boy and their faces are irresistible to him; determined to catch the treasure, Kingsley begins his body work: leg strength is GREAT! King kicks, pushes, clenches, and flexes.

Before our very eyes he proceeds to push-up. Mother and father clap and cheer. Our chests too small for our pounding, proud hearts…
