Kingsley: Adoni in Athens

How exciting for Kingsley to finally meet one of my dearest buddies, Adoni, and in Athens no less! King’s first international flight was from Dubai to Athens when the infant had turned two months of age. The trip came about because mum’s month-long UAE visa was running out. That is, mum was about to overstay her welcome here in Dubai (with tourist visas being 30 days duration). As a consequence we had to head for the border, and what better way to do so than with a trip back to the motherland.

Adoni and I met over a decade ago when we were both employees of Pharma giant, Abbott. I was in the Pharmaceuticals Division, with Adoni in the Diagnostics Division. During our friendship, adventures were our specialty, with numerous trips being played out on dance floors, back yards, and lounge rooms all around Australia and abroad. We vowed to embark on many more, well into our dotage.

Fast forward to today, Adoni was on a seven month vacation, Europe the frontier to be explored with Athens his second last destination. A happy coincidence would find both Adoni and I in the same city at the same time, so we fixed the plan to meet at his hotel on the steps of the Temple of Olympia Zeus and spent the day exploring the archaeological remnants of classical Greece, me Adoni and the boy King.
