Kingsley: 4-2-14 Metro

As part of our celebrations that Jiajia Dora is in town, we three took ourselves out of the apartment and went for an adventure. Travel about Dubai is easy when taking the Metro, and since the closest Metro station is precisely outside our door, inclement weather and our own laziness can not be relied upon as excuses to the pleasures of an outdoor journey.

We hopped on at Emirates Station (here at our doorstep), changes lines at Burjuman and hopped off one station later to get to the Dubai Creek – part of Dubai’s old quarters. Here mum experienced another, less glamorous side to this city. Dhows, haggard sailors, spice markets, crumbling city walls and the distinct smell of fishing vessels made for a great afternoon out.

The boy slept for 4 hours straight when nestled in this kangaroo pouch. In his baby carrier, Kingsley quickly nods off and I am free to use all four limbs to climb stairs, press elevator buttons and point at tourist spots out the window. Metro travel for mums is a pleasure and a breeze.
