38 Weeks: Cool Breezes

Seahorse, your mumma is as fat and happy as a spring lamb. In pain…but extremely happy to be carrying you. Every day I take a walk or go for a swim (in a bid to alleviate what ever body part is afflicted by my extra weight) and whenever your dad is in town, he rubs my belly then listens intently, ear to belly button, for your gurgles.

This week, marking your 38 weeks gestation, we took ourselves to a fancy inland resort here in Dubai – just a couple of nights away in a hotel suite, and a few days enjoying restaurant quality breakfasts and expansive buffet dinners – in order unite as a wee family in the making…

Late November in the UAE marks a turn in the weather: it is officially mild and pleasant to be outdoors. Cool breezes and zero humidity make open-air pursuits invigorating and most agreeable. And carrying this extra 20kg is somewhat manageable when I do not have to wipe perspiration from my brow. So at the Desert Palm Resort I swam and splashed while your father sank beers. Here I am about to go floating in the warmed pool. Heaven! (and I feel none of these 20kg!!)
