09-11-18 Library Card

Friday 9th November 2019

A fantastic spring day pottering about the house and throwing our efforts into a working bee in the back yard. Linus got the treat of accompanying Adam to Bunnings to buy garden tools but came back with a potted Gerbera.

It didn’t stop him from a full blown spaz attack when we wouldn’t let him use the murderous saw to cut up thick branches nor the sharp pruning scissors to slice open his flesh oops I mean cut up the stalks.

The arvo is fresh with a breeze and sunny. After a play outside Dr. Eliades’ surgery we’re at Randwick City Library. Its such a positive experience for both of us and he reprimands me for speaking in a loud voice when we enter its hallowed doors that I’m smitten with the entire act of visiting the sacred repository of books so much so that we become members…and borrow three books there and then. First one is titled ‘The Iron Age’, and the following two we read on the carpet in the quite comfort surrounded by preschoolers with their mums.

Within moments of being shown how to borrow books electronically by the kind Librarian Kingsley is a pro, does it himself with the swipe of our membership card, the placement of each book (just as we scan our items at Woolies self-service checkout), the request for a receipt at the end.

His smile of self-satisfaction says it all…
