13-08-18 Lyon Day 2

Monday 13th August 2018

Magnificent weather! Sunshine then sprinkles then sunbursts.  We wear jackets then take them off. To Kingsley’s delight we ask Front Desk for an umbrella…and use it for the moments it takes us to walk along Boulevard des Belges and into Parc de la Tête d’Or. Here the sun breaks through and we go once again for ‘horse racing’.

But that’s the second half of our day spent at le Parc. The first half we adventure far into Lyon proper, cross the Rhőne over the Pont de Lattre de Tassigny and into 1st Arrondissiment. Here we find in each and every block either a jardin, a Parc, a playground, a fairground or some form of children’s amusement.

For 4 hours we explore the left bank ans special places like Croix-Paquet and Croix-Rousse. At the 6 playgrounds we visit Kingsley has no trouble playing with little Frenchies their common language being action and adventure.
Didn’t think it could ever happen but we walked for 4.5 hours meandering along the Rhőne and through squares.

Biggest achievement other than speaking rudimentary French is Kingsley’s athletic improvement; the French do great climbing equipment. He learned to slide down the fireman’s pole all by himself.
