Katathani Beach Phuket Resort, Thailand

May-June 2017

At the start of Phuket’s monsoon season we three travel to Thailand for a fortnight at the five star family lodgings of Katathani Beach Phuket Resort. This long, sprawling resort fronts Kata Noi beach’s entire one kilometer of pure white sand. This fact means that the beach is relatively quiet and free from day-trippers (and trippers in general slinking over from crazy Patong). It means that the resort’s peaceful beach location is ideal for families wanting to spend time exploring, body surfing and watching the sun on the Andaman Sea horizon, a sight we were privileged to experience most nights.

Being monsoon season room/package rates are relatively inexpensive and we truly thought we’d receive more torrents of rain than we actually did. Thank goodness the sun wanted to shine! Rain comes and goes within ten minutes. Just once a day if that. Six swimming pools (and another four for children), yoga studio, boxing ring, two gyms, two spas, youth centre, kids club, plus petanque, outdoor bowling and giant chess boards gracefully designed within the spacious, well-kept grounds demand to be tested, played and traversed. The entire property is oozing a relaxed vibe and the dress code day through to night is ‘casual beach wear’. All I saw on feet were flip flops and sandals.

Here is what my eyes feasted on during our wonderfully relaxing family holiday at Katathani Beach Phuket Resort…
