30-11-16 Mexican in Brentwood

Wednesday 30th November

Its the night before Erroll’s 38th birthday and we as a multi-generational modern blended family gather at the McClendon’s lavish Brentwood home for canapes and drinks. Tonight we dine Mexican styles at a lively restaurant which serves authentic cuisine the likes of which I tasted only once before and that was way back the first time I ever traveled to Tennessee: when my father in law and Karen took us – the newlyweds – out to Graceland in Memphis.

Tonight however there is a party of ten what with the McClendon kids and its all about the salty margaritas, the chicken and the tacos. I myself have never eaten so many fried corn chips (why, Alice, why??) and Kingsley seems in heaven as I do not allow crisps to pass his lips. So this is a real eye-opener for him, his taste buds doing a happy dance all night.

We adults did a happy dance too watching the cousins bond over tortillas and simple games on the ipad, snug in their own booth…
