There was once a king and three of his friends who promised each other to give up drinking, feasting and female company for three years, and devote themselves to the pure pursuits. The King was infatuated with the self-denying discipline of scholarship, deciding to win fame for himself by transforming his court into a little academy. However, the gentlemen meet a princess and her friends, and fall in love with them, so that they are unable to do what they intended: keep their nose in books. And keep their pants on!
