Junk Yard Dogs

Abandoned railway stations and earth digging equipment are manna from heaven when it comes to granting a photographer her wish for a location backdrop. Who can resist the gaping jaws of an extinct front shovel, or the sinewy winches and steel ropes of a now defunct dragline excavator?

The Eveleigh Rail Yards were built in urban Sydney between 1880 and 1889 and formed much of the fabric of the bustling industrial town. Thousands took their employement here where train carriages for Sydney’s expanding rail network were built from scratch and maintained.

Carriages built here include the Royal Carriages constructed specifically for the Governor General and visiting Royalty, the very first electric carriage, and the first air-conditioned train in Australia. Perfect backdrop to a photoshoot, handsome gents my subjects this autumn Sydney day…

About Alice

I run, I jump, I sing, I dance. Whether climbing trees, walls or stairs I do it at a clip. When out, my date is always Trusty Nikon (who never lets me down in the attire stakes; so smart in his black, with a pop of red!). Where does it lead, this love affair of mine? Well, its lead me to Dubai, via the matrimonial aisle, thanks to a gorgeous husband who whisked me from Coogee beach, Sydney into the Arabian Peninsula - to my new home, Dubai. I am a freelance writer and photographer and my wish is to snap away, to scribe and to share it all with you. Enjoy.
